Columbia College kicked off the holiday season with its 15th annual holiday lighting ceremony at dusk on Friday, Dec. 2 on Bass Commons. Bass Commons is the large lawn facing Rogers Street.
After a countdown led by Kim Craig, Student Government Association president, more than 4,500 white lights burst upon the buildings facing Rogers Street. Dr. Gerald Brouder, Columbia College president, said the ceremony was symbolic of the college's mission to enlighten students.
Across the street is the Kirkman House, which – well, you’d better see that for yourself. Tune in to 106.5 FM when in the neighborhood.
The lighting ceremony was free and open to the public. The lights will remain on throughout the holiday season.
