Columbia College-Moberly will celebrate 15 years of educational excellence in northern Missouri on Wednesday, Oct. 19 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on the Moberly campus located at 101 College Ave., Suite 231. The festivities will include a welcome from Dr. Gerald Brouder, president of Columbia College, remarks from Dr. Evelyn E. Jorgenson, Moberly Area Community College (MACC) president, and giveaways.
Originally established in 1996 on the MACC campus, Columbia College-Moberly today offers an on-site library at MACC, staffed learning centers with tutoring, computer labs and free advising by appointment, phone or email.
“Columbia College-Moberly is a prime example of an educational partnership working to fulfill the needs of local, in this case, northern Missouri, learners,” said Brouder. “The faculty, staff and advisors of Columbia College-Moberly have done a superlative job of delivering the kind of education that suits students’ needs and advances their careers. I’m very proud of the campus and of Bruce, its director.”
Dr. Bruce Jackson is director of the Moberly campus. During his tenure with Columbia College the Moberly campus has experienced significant enrollment growth, topping more than 20 percent in some years.
“Most of our student growth has occurred with nontraditional students taking courses largely online,” Jackson said. “Our success has been based on excellent customer service, the cultivation of a positive and pleasant workplace and effective marketing of our campus.”
Jackson has extensive higher educational experience with Lincoln University, Stephens College, the University of Arkansas and Ball State University, among other institutions, and in retail as director of corporate education. He holds bachelor’s degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia and the New England Conservatory of Music, and a master’s degree in music from the University of Arkansas. He earned a doctorate in theory/composition and double bass from Ball State University.
Columbia College-Moberly offers the following on-campus bachelor’s degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Bachelor of General Studies and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. It also offers 23 associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees through the Online Campus.
Columbia College-Moberly has eight-week courses starting in January, March, June, August and October. These courses meet just once per week at 5:30 p.m. to better accommodate busy professionals. Evening and online classes can also be taken simultaneously.
