Volleyball Cougars win AMC crown

Talented squad advances to national tournament.

The Columbia Cougar volleyball squad finished their scorching run through the American Midwest Conference (AMC) in mid-November with a victory over Missouri Baptist for the AMC title. This was the Cougars 25th straight win.

The victory earns the Cougars an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa, which opens Nov. 30. This will be the Cougars' 17th straight tournament appearance. The squad's performance saw their national ranking jump to No. 5.

Following the match with Missouri Baptist, Paula Ferreira was named league MVP and Setter of the Year. Tally Mattos took home Libero of the Year honors and Vesna Trivunovic was named Newcomer of the Year. Ferreira, Mattos and Trivunovic were also honored as first team all-conference recipients while Kelly Corkum and Serena Jenkins took home honorable-mention nods.
