Omondi refuses to let obstacles derail dreams.

When Maria Omondi wakes up in the morning, the first thing she sees is a handwritten message to herself posted on the wall.

Her first goal: Wake up.

“Because I love to sleep,” joked Omondi, a senior middle blocker for the Columbia College volleyball team.

But it’s one thing to dream. Another to reach those dreams.
