Cougars soccer and volleyball teams surge to the top

A nail-biting double-overtime Cougar soccer game last week ended with a tie against the Vikings of Missouri Valley College, placing the Columbia College squad at 5-1-1. It was the fourth straight contest in which the Cougars didn’t surrender a goal. Defense!

That they then fell to Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in Edwardsville, Ill. 2-1 still speaks volumes for that defense.

Their next home games are Tuesday, September 22 against William Woods (Mo.) University at 7:00 p.m., then Friday, September 25 vs. Bellevue (Neb.) University at 6:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, with a win against AMC foes Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University and the Owls of William Woods University, the amazing Columbia Cougar volleyball squad remains perfect at 12-0 and moves up in national rankings to No. 4.

The volleyball Cougars' next home game is on Monday, September 28 vs. Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) College at 7:00 p.m.

Is another championship season in the making? Come see for yourself. It doesn’t get much better than this, sports fans.
