Columbia College advances in military education

Columbia College has been helping military personnel earn college degrees while serving our country for nearly four decades. Here are just a few of the latest happenings in the college's military education initiatives:

  • Tuition discount for military spouses
Spouses of active duty, guard or reserves members of any military branch can now earn a 20 percent tuition discount for undergraduate in-seat classes. To be eligible, military spouses must show a valid military spouse I.D. or other documents that confirm marriage to a military member. The Military Spouse Tuition Discount does not apply to online coursework, nor does it apply to military spouses covered under a tuition-assistance program.
  • Navy College Program Distance Learning Partnership
Columbia College has developed a partnership with the Navy College Program to offer degrees to sailors online from almost anywhere in the world. The goal of the program is to support sailors’ highly mobile lifestyle and education goals with degree programs relevant to their rating. Sailors get a degree faster because the program gives maximum consideration for their military education and experience.
  • eArmyU
Columbia College was recently selected as one of 30 schools to participate in eArmyU. Launched by the U.S. Army in 2001, eArmyU is a one-stop location for soldiers to manage their college education and Tuition Assistance benefits.
  • New assistant dean
Tery Donelson, former special projects coordinator, has been named assistant dean for military and federal programs. In his new role, Donelson serves as the primary contact for the institution’s military partnerships. He will oversee the expansion of the college’s military programs, coordinate all military-related college marketing and informational materials and manage institutional participation in all military partnerships.

For more information about Columbia College's special relationship with the military or to find out how to get the degree that best matches your goals and lifestyle, contact Donelson at (800) 231-2391, ext. 7579 or tldonelson@ccis.edu.
